In 2009 and 2010 the work of the Öresund Committee will focus on the following issues:
1. Promote debate about and create a strategic framework for the future development of the Öresund Region
• The Öresund Committee seeks to promote a broad debate about the development goals of the Öresund Region and will offer a common strategic framework for the various contributions made by the individual actors.
• In 2009 and 2010 the Öresund Committee will work to develop a vision of the future for the Öresund Region and evolve a strategy that can turn this vision into reality. The purpose of the vision is to make the Öresund Region the most competitive, attractive and effective border region in Europe.

2. Develop the labour market in the Öresund Region
• The Öresund Committee seeks to promote the development of a common labour market in the Öresund Region.
• For this reason the Öresund Committee is working systematically to influence the governments in Denmark and Sweden in order to protect the region's political interests by simplifying the situation for companies and individuals who work, live and trade on both sides of the Sound. We are working to eliminate as many as possible of the legal and regulatory obstacles that exist, so that it will become simpler to work, study, live or invest on the other side of the water.

3. Strengthen infrastructure and improve accessibility
• The Öresund Region is an important hub and an engine for growth in both Sweden and Denmark. A well-integrated, smooth running infrastructure is essential if people, goods and services are to be able to move freely within the region.
• The Öresund Committee seeks to improve accessibility, facilitate mobility and more fully integrate the infrastructure of the Öresund Region.
• In its capacity as an arena for asserting the region's political interests in this sphere, in 2009 and 2010 the Öresund Committee will focus primarily on national processes such as a follow-up of the two governments' long-term investment plans for infrastructure and a possible new Danish infrastructure commission.

4. Promote integration within the Öresund Region through culture and citizen participation
• The Öresund Region has tremendous structural potential, and the Öresund Committee is keen both to utilise and develop this. Collectively the region offers a broad spectrum of cultural institutions, several of which are of world class.
• The existence of a rich and diverse cultural life on both sides of the Sound plays an important role for the ongoing process of integration, as it encourages Danes and Swedes to meet to share experiences and impressions.
• The Öresund Committee seeks to strengthen the initiatives of clubs, associations and non-governmental organisations across the Sound as well as cross-border municipal cooperation. It is also committed to promoting culture as one factor behind regional development and to stimulating interest in making use of the region's varied cultural offerings.
• For this reason the Öresund Committee offers arenas for strategic joint ventures within these areas.
